Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using APIndex ("Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are using the Software on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, or use the Software.

2. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees (for paid tiers), we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

  • Download and install the Software on servers you own or control
  • Use the Software for your internal business purposes
  • Create backups of the Software for archival purposes

This license is granted per organization and covers the number of users specified in your license tier (Community: 3 users, Pro: 25 users, Business/Enterprise: unlimited).

3. License Tiers

APIndex is available under the following license tiers:

  • Community (Free) — Up to 3 users, 1 environment, core features
  • Pro ($49/month) — Up to 25 users, unlimited environments, RBAC
  • Business ($119/month) — Unlimited users, LDAP/AD, audit log, multi-tenant
  • Enterprise (Custom) — Custom terms, SLA, dedicated support

Paid tiers require a valid license key and periodic license validation. Features are enabled based on your active license tier.

4. Restrictions

You may not:

  • Sublicense, sell, resell, or distribute the Software to third parties
  • Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the Software
  • Use the Software to provide a competing product or service
  • Circumvent or disable license validation mechanisms
  • Share license keys with unauthorized parties
  • Exceed the user limits specified in your license tier

5. Your Data

APIndex is self-hosted software. All data you store in APIndex (APIs, users, configurations, etc.) resides on your own infrastructure. We do not have access to your data.

You are solely responsible for:

  • Backing up your data
  • Securing your deployment
  • Compliance with applicable data protection laws
  • Managing user access and permissions

6. License Validation

For paid tiers, the Software periodically validates your license with our license server. During validation, only the following information is transmitted:

  • Your license key
  • Your instance identifier (License ID)

No user data, API catalog data, usage analytics, or other information from your instance is transmitted. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

7. Payment Terms

For paid tiers:

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance
  • Prices are in USD and exclude applicable taxes
  • You authorize us to charge your payment method on each billing cycle
  • Failed payments may result in license deactivation
  • Refunds are provided at our discretion within 14 days of purchase

8. Support

Support availability depends on your license tier:

  • Community — Community forums only
  • Pro — Email support (48-hour response)
  • Business — Priority email support (24-hour response)
  • Enterprise — Dedicated support with SLA

9. Updates and Maintenance

We may release updates, patches, and new versions of the Software. You are responsible for applying updates to your self-hosted deployment. We recommend keeping your installation up to date for security and feature improvements.

We reserve the right to modify features between versions. Major changes will be communicated through our changelog and documentation.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Termination

You may terminate your license at any time by uninstalling the Software and discontinuing use. We may terminate or suspend your license if you breach these Terms.

Upon termination, your license to use the Software ends. Your data remains on your servers, but you must cease using the Software.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, for paid customers, via email. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Romania.
